The long-awaited documentary “Vitalik: The Ethereum Story” is scheduled to premiere in September. It will feature a personal portrait of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, and the transformative evolution of his pioneering projects.
This film is part of a broader initiative, “The Ethereum Story,” accompanied by a series of shorts planned for release in October 2024. Directed by Zack Ingrasci and Chris Temple, known for “The Meme Economy,” the documentary has been in production for over three years, capturing pivotal moments in Ethereum’s journey. It was funded through the crowdfunding platform Mirror.xyz, raising 1,035.96 ETH (approximately $29,000).
“Vitalik: The Ethereum Story” explores the technological advancements and human narratives behind Ethereum’s global influence, aiming to attract audiences both within and outside the cryptocurrency community.

The official trailer for the documentary will premiere on July 26th via the Zora Network, offering audiences the opportunity to support its release through mining tokens. Tickets for the online screening event will be available on ethereumfilm.xyz starting in July 18, 2024, followed by a global premiere on November 1, 2024, and subsequent theatrical and digital releases in late 2024 and early 2025.
This documentary joins a growing wave of films exploring personalities and innovations within the cryptocurrency industry, reflecting an increasing prominence alongside projects like Bloomberg’s feature on Sam Bankman-Fried and Coinbase’s documentary on its own development.
