The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Russia and Iran, as members of the BRICS countries, are currently negotiating a new partnership agreement. Maria Zakharova mentioned that Moscow is currently engaged in developing what she described as a significant agreement with Iran, emphasizing that it is different from previous agreements such as the one with North Korea.
The spokesperson highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, particularly after Iran’s accession to BRICS.
Last year, the two countries also agreed to conduct trade using their local currencies instead of the US dollar, further solidifying their economic ties.

Furthermore, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a new intergovernmental agreement reflecting the enhanced relations between Russia and Iran has recently been finalized.
With Iran’s accession to the BRICS alliance, the alliance continues to strengthen its internal links between member states.
Iran’s engagement with BRICS, including enhanced relations with China, has also boosted oil exports to a six-year high, significantly contributing to the economic dynamics within BRICS following its expansion in 2023.
