“Vitalik: The Ethereum Story,” the long-awaited documentary film, whose premiere is scheduled for September, will offer a personal portrait of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, and the transformative evolution of his pioneering project.
The documentary is part of the broader initiative “Ethereum Stories” and is accompanied by a series of short films set to release in September 2024.
Directed by Zak Ingasi and Chris Temple, known for their work on “The Meme Economy,” the film has been in production for over three years, capturing key moments from Ethereum’s journey. It was funded through the crowdfunding platform Mirror.xyz, raising 1,035.96 ETH (approximately $2.9 million).
“Vitalik: The Ethereum Story” explores technological advancements and human narratives behind Ethereum’s global impact, aiming to attract audiences from both within and outside the crypto community.

The official trailer for the documentary will debut on July 23 on the Zora network, where viewers can support its distribution through token mining. Tickets for the network premiere event will go on sale on July 26 at ethereumfilm.xyz, ahead of the global premiere on September 18, followed by theatrical and digital releases by late 2024 and early 2025.
This documentary joins a growing wave of films examining personalities and innovations within the crypto industry, reflecting its increasing significance alongside projects such as Bloomberg’s film on Sam Bankman-Fried and Coinbase’s documentary on its own development.
