As part of a comprehensive strategic partnership, Russian President Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed an agreement to further develop economic and military cooperation.
The meeting, which lasted more than two hours longer than expected, began with a one-on-one conversation. In response to the situation in Ukraine, Putin took the opportunity to praise North Korea’s support for his country, stating that their ties would be strengthened against US hegemony.
Russia has been subjected to Western sanctions for its activities in Ukraine, while North Korea faces strict restrictions from the UN Security Council due to its weapons program.
Some reports suggest that North Korea may provide ammunition to Russia in exchange for economic assistance and technology transfer, which would boost Kim’s nuclear and missile programs. During the meeting, he stated that the relationship between his country and Russia is closer than Soviet times and promised full support for Moscow’s military actions in Ukraine.

According to information, some proposals discussed at the meeting indicate that instead of giving money to Russia through the sale of ammunition, North Korea may help increase the stockpile of nuclear devices.
In Washington, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Putin’s visit to North Korea illustrates how Russia is trying to develop and strengthen its relationships with countries that can provide what it needs to continue the aggressive war it started against Ukraine.
